Starting My Beauty Business with Avon

For almost two years, I’ve been searching for work. Although, there’s always been one factor that came in the way. My disability. It really sucks hearing, “You seem like the perfect candidate for this job BUT we’re not confident you’ll be able to do this with your disability.” I almost gave up when I realized, work from home jobs were a thing. So, I adjusted my job searching plan. Then one day, I saw an ad for Avon. I remembered that a distant relative sold Avon and that she was actually really successful with her business. At that moment, a lightbulb went off in my head.  I am super passionate about beauty and Avon is an amazing company that has been going strong for almost 130 years! This is perfect. So I began the signup process.

Starter Kits: When you sign up, you do have to purchase a starter kit. Starter kits are filled with the essentials you’ll need to start your Avon business so it’s worth it. The amazing thing about this is they give you three payment plans. You can choose between a $25, $50, or $100 starter kit. Each starter kit comes with samples, products, brochures, and more sale tools. The $50 and $100 come with more items than the $25 plan but even with the $25 starter kit, you’ll get everything you need to be able to get your Avon business up and ready to go!

Free Online Store: When you’re all signed up, Avon gives you a free online store! This is the place you can direct your customers to if they would like to place an order online. You are also able to customize the background and ad layout of your store homepage to how you like it! I found this really fun.

Free Training: Another thing Avon provides is free training! There is an “Avon U Training” tab on your Avon homepage that you have access to 24/7. Through training, you are given a bunch of information and videos about the company and what to expect. It’s also very interactive and fun. You earn points through every activity you complete!

How to Earn Money: In order to earn money through your Avon business, you will need to make sales. You can earn up to 40% of every sale! The important thing to remember is that this is all up to you. You will not make any sales by just sitting there so you have to promote your business.  You can promote your business online, in person, or both! For me, I do most of my promoting online through social media but I like to hand out brochures in person when I’m out in public. I plan to promote more in person to see if it’s even more effective.

My Experience: So far, I’ve only been working with Avon for two months. I know that’s not very long but within the two months, I’ve made about $160 in sales! Avon has makeup, skincare, clothes, jewelry, perfume, home decor, and more. It’s so fun selling these products. I’ve had such an amazing experience so far. So if you have doubts about if it’s really possible earning some extra money through this company, I promise you that it’s so possible, fun, AND rewarding! The best part is, it’s a growth opportunity. You can start out making a little bit but end up making it your full-time job and earning enough to provide for your family!
